Meghan Markle and Prince Harry to Skip Holidays With Royal Family

November 14, 2019

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are dreaming of a non-royal Christmas.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will not be spending the holidays with Queen Elizabeth, Prince Charles, Prince William or Kate Middleton at the royal family’s Sandringham country estate, reported People.

Instead, the royal couple will be celebrating the season with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland.

“Having spent the last two Christmases at Sandringham, Their Royal Highnesses will spend the holiday this year, as a new family, with the Duchess’ mother Doria Ragland,” Buckingham Palace said in a statement.

And while some may take the news as a snub to Harry’s family, it actually follows recent royal tradition.

“This decision is in line with precedent set previously by other members of the Royal Family, and has the support of Her Majesty The Queen,” the palace spokesperson added.

Back in 2016, Prince William and Kate Middleton took a break from the royal family’s holiday celebrations to spend it with Middleton’s family.

While Meghan’s mother lives in Los Angeles, the palace spokesperson did not specify the location of the couple’s festive plans.

The holiday news comes after it was previously revealed that Meghan and Harry have plans to take a hiatus from their royal duties and will allegedly split their time between England and the United States.

On Thursday, Harry and Meghan showed their love for a prominent member of the royal family by sharing a never-before-seen photo of their son Archie to celebrate Prince Charles’ 71st birthday.

In the black and white pic taken at Archie’s private christening, Charles looks on as Harry loving cradles his bundle of joy in his arms.

“Happy birthday to His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales – Sir, Pa, Grandpa!” read the caption posted to Meghan and Harry’s official Instagram account.
