Ryan Reynolds Confirms 'Deadpool 3' Is 'In the Works'

December 29, 2019

In a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moment, Ryan Reynolds gifted the “Deadpool” fandom the best surprise ever during a Christmas Eve appearance on “Live with Kelly and Ryan.”

In fact, Reynold’s announcement was so subtle, it didn’t register with fans until three days later after it went viral on Reddit.

During the show, Kelly Ripa and Ryan Seacrest eased into the question by bringing up Reynold’s recent meeting with Mariah Carey, whose son, Moroccan, is a huge fan of the films.

Reynolds admitted that he was star-struck while meeting the pop star and said he gave her son a “Deadpool” mask.

Seacrest then asked the actor if there are plans for “yet another” film.

Reynolds, donning an “ugly Christmas sweater,” confirmed that a third film in the franchise is in the works.

"Yeah we're working on it right now with the whole team," the actor who plays the titular character admitted.

"We're over at Marvel [Studios] now, which is like the big leagues all of a sudden. It's kinda crazy. So yeah, we're working on it,” he said of “Deadpool 3.”

Reynolds singlehandedly put an end to months of speculation on whether Disney, the family-friendly company that acquired Fox (the studio responsible for the first two films) would give the green light for a third Rated R film.

Despite the film’s vulgar tone, the likelihood that Disney would produce a third film was very high considering the success of both films.

According to ComicBook, "Deadpool” and “Deadpool 2” held the box office title for the highest-grossing R-rated movies each bringing in “more than $780 million around the globe.”

The films were dethroned this October by Joaquin Phoenix’s “Joker.”

No word on when to expect “Deadpool 3,” but at least we can go to sleep tonight knowing that it’s officially happening.
