Embracing Negativity Can Make You Happier

We’re all taught that to have a happier life you need to be positive; just brush off negativity and always look on the bright side.

Well, whoever taught you that is a liar.

According to Harvard scientist Susan David, if you want true happiness you need to embrace negative feelings and deal with them. David says that placing so much emphasis on being positive prevents people from learning how to actually deal with negative emotions. Instead she says you need to handle negative feelings in a four-step process: confront them, detach from them, understanding your true self and values and moving on.
