Even with the rise of healthy eating, veganism and vegitarianism among Americans a shocking 39.8% in 2015-2016 are considered obese which is a 30% increase according to The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. This is the highest this number has ever been. Since 1999, the rate of Obesity in the U.S has risen dramatically and isn't slowing down. That boils down to  4 in 10 US adults.

Experts say raising soda taxes and avoiding fast food are steps to helping lower the high obesity rate.

The Childhood Obesity rate is on the rise as well. You can view data on childhood obesity by state below. Childrens’ rates of obesity have risen roughly 34% in the same period, from 13.9% in 1999-2000 to 18% in 2015-2016.
