Netflix has ordered two seasons of an hourlong comedy series, titled The Politician, and it could include Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow as stars.

This is actually the biggest TV deal of the year so far. There was a LOT of competition (a bidding war) to see which streaming service would pick up this show. The series will be led by the creative team (Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan) who were behind Glee several years ago.

Of course, the new series will also have a TON of star power behind it on screen as well.

Ben Platt, who is known as the original leading role in Dear Evan Hansen and Benji Applebaum in the Pitch Perfect movies, has already signed on to star in the series.

Meanwhile, Barbra Streisand and Gwyneth Paltrow are in negotations to join the cast as co-stars, according to the Deadline report. If Barbra's deal is signed, she is likely to direct some of the episodes as well.

The actual details about the show's plots aren't totally clear at this point, but Deadline does report that there will be multiple musical numbers throughout the series.

Deadline reports that there had been a bidding war between Amazon, Hulu and Netflix for the show. Netflix's deal is for two seasons.
