It's always fun to read the nominees for any of the major Hollywood award shows, but it's usually more "fun" to notice which fan favorites were snubbed from the nominations.

So here are five of the contenders that we were surprised to see had been left out. You can check out the list of nominees by clicking here

We were a little surprised by this one. It won the EMMY award for best TV comedy last year, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus has won a ton of hardware each award season for her starring role in the show as Selina Meyer. However, the Hollywood Foregin Press must not be a fan of the series. Despite being nominated for seven awards in previous years, he hit HBO comedy has never taken home any trophies from the Globes.

Tiffany Haddish
She STOLE the show in the movie Girls Trip earlier this year. Her role as a supporting actress has been well received by many critics and she was even nominated for a Critics' Choice Award, but she was shut out from this year's nominations.

The Big Sick
Leaving this romantic comedy of this year's nominations was a surprise to many. The movie became an insanely popular success story at the the box office earlier this year. Plus, it may not be voting criteria, but the movie has a 98% positive rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Do you know how insanely difficult it is to obtain a score like that?

Game of Thrones Cast
None of the show's stars were nominated an acting award this year. That list from the show's impressive cast is huge, but they were all shut out!

This Is Us Cast
This is Us was certainly acknowledged during this year's nominations. However, it's who was forgotten about that we've noticed. Some of the series biggest stars were shut out. We're talking about Milo Ventimiglia, Mandy Moore and Ron Cephas Jones.

This year's ceremony will take place on Sunday, January 7. Seth Meyers, formerly of Saturday Night Live and now Late Night with Seth Meyers, will act as the evening's emcee.
