Elton John's name is synonymous with The Lion King. The super star wrote (and sang) some of the movie’s most iconic tracks. So it’s hard to imagine a version of The Lion King without the 70-year-old performer being involved.

And there’s good news:

Elton revealed to Entertainment Tonight this week that he “thinks” he’ll be involved in the 2019 film. When asked if he’d be participating in the movie. He went on to say “I hope so.”

John, of course, wrote (and performed) a number of the film’s most iconic tracks along with Tim Rice. Plus, he’ll always be known for his epic performance of “Can You Feel The Love Tonight.”

Elton appeared on stage for The Lion King’s 20th anniversary on Broadway earlier this week. After the show’s curtain call, he was joined by the show’s cast for a performance of “Circle of Life.”

Disney’s upcoming live-action version of The Lion King will be released in 2019. Donald Glover, Beyonce, and James Early Jones will star. Hans Zimmer, who scored the 1994 animated film, will return to score the new movie.

The Lion King is scheduled to be released on July 19, 2019.
