It’s official! We’ve been waiting for this announcement, and it finally happened last night. Beyoncé has signed on to the upcoming live action version of the Lion King. Other stars attached to the 2019 film include Donald Glover, James Earl Jones, Seth Rogen, John Oliver and more.

Disney had to bring out the star power for this movie, right? They’ve had a ton of success with some of their most recent live-action remakes of classic movies (Cinderella, The Jungle Book, Alice in Wonderland). In fact, Beauty and the Beast is this year’s highest grossing film to date.

We knew Disney was eyeing Beyoncé for the role of (adult) Nala, but we weren’t sure they would seal the deal, so last night's announcement was incredibly exciting. The role of a future queen being voiced by one of our queens? That's epic!

Queen Bey will join an all star cast (most of which was previously announced):

Donald Glover will voice the role of Nala’s love interest and Pride Rock’s rightful king, Simba.Meanwhile, James Earl Jones is reprising his role as Simba’s father, Mufasa.  Meanwhile, John Oliver will voice the character of Mufasa's assistant, Zazu. The character was first made famous by Rowan Atkinson in 1994's film.

Pumbaa, the lovable warthog originally voiced by Ernie Sabella, will be portrayed by Seth Rogen in 2019. His meerkat pal, Timon, who was originally voiced by iocnic stage actor Nathan Lane, will be voiced by Billy Eichner in the remake.

Here’s a look at the movie’s full cast:

The new Lion King movie will open in theaters on July 19, 2019. That’s just 623 days away. Not that we’re not counting down the days or anything…
