HBO's Game of Thrones will be taking a year off before the final season returns to TV.

HBO made the announcement on Thursday that the show would return for a final consisting of six episodes. Unfortunately, we will have to wait until 2019 for it to hit TV screens.

The show runners (David Benioff and Dan Weiss) will sept a year and a half creating the show's final episodes, as they work to make the final hours of the show "as satisfying as possible," according to a report from Entertainment Weekly

Production on the show's final season began in October, and it is expected to wrap in August 2018. The Hollywood Reporter says we can expect that many of the episodes will be "supersized," but that has not been confirmed.

The premiere date for GOT's eighth and final season has not been announced.
