Mariah Carey will try to end 2017 on a positive note, which would be much different than the way that 2016 wrapped up for the pop diva.

Yes, Mariah Carey will perform on Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve With Ryan Seacrest once again this year. The announcement of Carey's performance was made over the weekend by ABC and Dick Clark Productions.

Of course, you'll probably recall that Mariah infamously performed during last year's program, but let's just say... that didn't go very well.
After the failed performance, the pop superstar's representatives said her earpiece was not working. Dick Clark Productions, however, did not accept the blame for the performance blunder.

Well, now it sounds like both Carey and the production company are trying to make the 2016 performance a distant memory with a little bit of a re-do later this week.

“We can all agree that last year didn't go exactly as planned," Mariah and Dick Clark Productions said in a statement that was released this weekend. “And we are thrilled to move forward together to provide America with an incredible night of music and celebration on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve With Ryan Seacrest 2018. See you in Times Square!”

Carey, of course, had had quite a bit of success already this month. Her smash hit holiday song, "All I Want for Christmas is You," just reached the top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart for the first time in the song's 23 year history.
