Ryan Secreast Signs On As Host of 'American Idol' Reboot

Ryan Secreast just added another job to his list of crazy responsibilities. Secreast will be returning as the host of American Idol when the show returns to network television in 2018. He made the announcement on Live! With Kelly and Ryan today.

Seacrest told the Live! audience that it feels like reuniting with an ex that he was seeing for 15 years. Secrest hosted the FOX show until its cancellation in 2016.

The announcement was made after what seemed to be months of negotiations between Secreast and ABC. The show, which is expected to return to ABC in early 2018, will also have Katy Perry on board as a judge. ABC has not locked down the rest of the show's judging panel, but Lionel Richie was rumored to be in talks with the show earlier this summer.

If you think your commute to work was rough, it'll probably be nothing compared to miles that Ryan will be logging. The 42-year-old TV personality will likely have to travel from New York to Los Angeles a few times a week to fulfill both his Live! and Idol responsibilities each week.

The trick (we think at least) will be that Live! doesn't usually tape new episodes on Fridays, so Secreast will be able to jaunt from coast to coast.
