Sam Smith’s newest release ("Too Good at Goodbyes") is already a massive hit, but the 25-year-old pop star Sam Smith just revealed that he nearly quit while making the new album.

The revelations came in an interview with Attitude Magazine. The piece, by the way, was done by guest interviewer Elton John.

Smith says he had just gotten “dumped,” when he started working on new music. Normally, it sounds like writing music had been therapeutic for the “Stay With Me” singer, but Smith was finding that music was not the same outlet that it been in the past for him.

“My team had to force me to get into the studio, because I almost felt as if I didn’t want to do it anymore,” Smith revealed in Attitude's October cover story.

The new music is Sam’s first release since 2015’s release of, "The Writing's on The Wall.” The track was written for for the James Bond Spectre film. His 2014 debut studio album, In the Lonely Hour, included the tracks “Stay with Me” and “I’m Not the Only One.”

When can we expect the new album from Sam? Smith says to expect it “before Christmas.”
