The 2018 Golden Globes finally have an emcee. Comedian and host of NBC's Late Night, Seth Meyers, will host the Golden Globes next year.

There were "rumblings that NBC and the Hollywood Foreign Press Association were going to go host-less in 2018," according to, but having a host helps to promote the program for improved television ratings.

The show did not have a host until 2009. Meyers will succeed his late night TV lead in, Jimmy Fallon, who hosted the show in 2016. Ricky Gervais was the host in 2015, and Tina Fey and Amy Poehler had a three-year run as the program's hosts before that.

Late Night With Seth Meyers has had a great year in terms of ratings, and the program marks a big moment as it is the first major award show of the 2018 award season.

The Golden Globes will take place at the Beverly Hilton on January 7. The show will air live on NBC at 8pm ET/7pm CT. The nominees will be announced on December 11.
