It has been nearly 20 years since we hopped on board the Spice Girls bus to say “zig a zig ah,” so naturally, the girls are planning a big celebration for their 20th anniversary. Yes,the movie Spice World opened in 1997.

As part of the celebration around the film’s milestone anniversary, it will be shown in theaters on September 29. There’s one catch… the film is CURRENTLY only being shown at theaters in the United Kingdom.

It sounds like the girls are hoping to offer viewings across the globe soon.

It would not be unprecedented for the theaters in the United States to join in the Spice Girls party. Many other films show in limited engagements around their anniversary. Just last week, The Lion King was shown across the country to mark that film’s 20th anniversary.

If the film isn’t shown at theaters in the US, we’ll just bring over the bottle of wine to your house on September 29 to mark the film’s anniversary. Is that OK? After all, September 29 is a Friday this year. OK, we're mostly kidding.
