The Most Hungover Places In America After The New Year

January 1, 2019

Before you can get into full gear with "New year, new me," it might be a good idea to take care of that hangover you got while ringing in 2019 (unless you're like me and you sat on the couch watching Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve). Thank goodness January 1st is a holiday so people have a day to recover from celebrating, but one might be curious to know which cities have the most hangovers on New Year's day...

INSIDER worked with Google Trends to see in which cities people are googling the word "hangover" the most. You'd think NYC would be the top choice with everything going down in Times Square, but Lousiville, KY is actually the city with the most hangovers. Pittsburgh, PA and Fresno, CA round out the top three.

Did any cities in North Carolina make the list? You bet they did.

Raleigh-Durham was the top NC city, ranked at #41; Charlotte came in at #44, Asheville ranked #53 and Greensboro/Winston-Salem rounded out the top 60. Here's a look at the top 10:

1) Louisville, KY
2) Pittsburgh, PA
3) Fresno-Visalia, CA
4) Las Vegas, NV
5) Detroit, MI
6) Grand Rapids-Kalamazoo-Battle Creek, MI
7) Philadelphia, PA
8) St. Lousi, MO
9) New York, NY
10) Chicago, IL
