We Need More Sleep These Days Because Life Is Too Stressful

August 12, 2020

This pandemic has everyone beyond stressed out. Did someone say more sleep? Count me in!

We’ve heard for ages that getting “X” amount of sleep is important, but now researchers at Penn State are saying that we really need 8.5 hours of sleep for your health.

So what’s the deal? Why do we need that extra 30 minutes?

The reason is when we’re in bed for say 8 hours, we aren’t actually asleep the entire time. If you’re like me, you check your phone for about 30 minutes before falling asleep, wake up 3 or 4 times during the middle of the night and waste time trying to fall back asleep.

Healthy sleepers spend about 90% of their time in bed actually asleep, so there’s a good chance you’re not getting as much shut eye as you think you are. Bumping up your sleep time to make sure you’re getting enough quality sleep can help you be more productive!
