Social Media has made reconnecting with people from the past so much easier. And if you don't want to reconnect, social media has also made it pretty easy to check up on someone from back in the day too. Who are the most sought out people on social media? Ex-boyfriends, girlfriends, lovers, etc. of course!

I know I have been guilty of looking up an ex or 10 on Facebook. Why do I do it? I was honestly curious as to where they were and what they were doing. No harm in that right?

But not all people are looking up an ex for an innocent reason. 64% of people have looked up an ex on social media according to a study done by Illicit Encounters.

1. To see their relationship status: You're alone, they're lonely! At the same time, you don't want them back, but you don't want to see them with someone else either. Or maybe you are one of those people that hope they found their person and are madly in love and happy.

2. To Reconnect: This can be 100% harmless chatter and catching up. But some people will search out an ex on social media to try and rekindle an old flame.

3. To See If They Look Happy: Although this seems ridiculous to me. Most people know that what people post on social media is editing by us to appear a certain way. There are plenty of miserable people pretending to be happy on Facebook every day!

4. To See Who They're Dating/Married to Now: Who did they end up marrying or settling down with? Is it someone they were friends with during your relationship? How does this person compare to you?

Social media can be a great thing, but sometimes it's better not to know what happened to that guy that ripped your heart out or the person you call "the one that go away."
