We have less than two weeks left in 2018 so it's time to start thinking about your resolutions! Sometimes we make our goals unrealistic and that tends to make us get off track pretty quickly. This is a marathon and now a sprint.

There are some things you should just throw out of your life in your hoping to be healthier and happier in 2019. Here are 5 things that may be preventing you from truly crushing your health goals this year.

1. The scale: I love this so much. Last year I threw out my scale and it was one of the best things I have ever did for myself. Personally, I was allowing the scale and the number that I would see every morning dictate my mood for the day. That's not healthy. Our weigh can fluctuate even if we are 100% sticking to our diet and fitness routine. Use the scale at your doctor's to weigh yourself. You can also use other things to determine if you're heading in the right direction with your weight. How do your close fit? You can also take measurements of your body every month or so to see if you are making progress.

2. Old Makeup: If you've had it for so long and you're not wearing it anymore just toss it out. Old makeup can be a breeding ground for nasty bacteria. I think I read somewhere that you should only keep mascara and eyeliner for no more than six months because you could get an infection if it's older.

3. Clothes you don't/won't ever wear again: I am the Queen of hoarding old clothes and shoes because I think I may wear them again sometime down the road. If I have had the item and haven't put it on in the last two years, it needs to go. You can donate your clothes to charity or you can sell them if they're in good condition to stores like Clothes Mentor and get cash on the spot. Cash is always a great way to motivate you to clean out your closet.

4. Negative People: Maybe it's an old friend or that family member that is constantly nitpicking you on social media, but these people serve no purpose in your life. Delete their info from your phone. Unfriend them from Facebook or use the new Mute feature to make their BS disappear from your news feed.. Unfollow them on Instagram and Twitter.

Life is too short to let little things and people hold us back from being the best we can be. Making these small changes will clear up the clutter from your space and your mind and allow you to focus your eyes on all the wonderful things that are ahead for you in 2019!
