Sunday is the day we honor Dad! Are you ready for Father's Day?

What will you be doing for your dad or Father of your children this weekend? In honor of that extraordinary man in our lives, I have some facts you may not know about Father's Day! The first one may come as a big shock to you.

5 Facts About Father's Day:

1. Father's Day took a long time to become a thing! Mother's Day was established in 1914 but was celebrated well before that. Father's Day, on the other hand, took 64 years to become a recognized holiday! It took President Nixon’s re-election campaign to get an official proclamation signed in 1972 to recognize this day. Wow!

2. Is it Fathers' Day or Father's Day? It was originally petitioned for the holiday to be written as “Fathers’ Day,” the U.S. Congress used the term “Father's Day” when they established the day as an official holiday. So Father's Day it is!

3. Father's Day is a big holiday for sending/giving cards! In fact, it's the fourth most popular card holiday behind Christmas, Valentine's, and Mother's day. It's estimated that 72 million cards are given out every Father's Day!

4. Both Husband's and Dad's are celebrated on Father's Day! It's estimated that 20% of cards send on Father's Day are from wives and children's mothers.
