5 Questions People Don't Want to Be Asked During the Holiday

Just don't even go there!

Awkward encounter between a man and woman

Get ready for some awkward conversations and questions over the holidays. It's that time of year when you see friends and family members you might not see very often so there's this need to catch up with them. This could lead to some pretty uncomfortable questions.

A study of 2,000 adults found four in 10 are expecting to be on the receiving end of ‘awkward questions’ from extended family and friends over the festive period.

Further feared interrogations include the timely ‘what’s your new year’s resolution’ and ‘have you got a partner yet?’

Other dreaded questions include ‘have you got a job yet?’ and ‘when are you going to have children?’

It also emerged three in 10 adults want to avoid discussing finances and one in five do not want to talk about their current love life or religion.

Another two in five are anticipating being asked about their personal life.

The study, commissioned by Hasbro Gaming, found that in order to avoid uncomfortable conversations many have employed tactics such as faking a phone call or hiding in the toilet.

What questions do you think are the worst? Here are 5 of them.

1. Have you put on weight?

2. Who are you going to vote for in the next election?

3. When are you going to have children?

4. Is marriage / engagement on the cards?

5. Have you got a boyfriend/girlfriend?

Ugh, just typing those out made me cringe. I guess if I could offer anyone advice ahead of this week's holiday, it's this. Think before you speak or ask. How would you feel if someone asked you these prying questions?
