I am still in awe that 2018 will be over in four short weeks! With Christmas on the horizon, sometimes it's hard to think about things you want to change in the New Year. Honestly, it's never to early to make a New Year's resolution and actually start working on it.

If you're one of these people that's not exactly happy at work, you aren't alone. There have been countless studies done that have found that a lot of people are either bored by their job or aren't satisfied. It can be the people you work with or a lack of appreciation that's adding to this displeasure.

But you can make things better for yourself. Ever hear of that saying, "You create your own happiness?" It is so true. If you are feeling somewhat miserable at work there are some things you can do to really improve your work environment and make you feel better about going to work every day!

5 Things You Can Do to Be Happier at Work

1. Figure out what motivates you.

2. Take 10 to 15-minute breaks throughout the day (Unless you work for that person who micromanages every single minute you're on the clock.)

3. Make sure you are getting enough sleep and doing the things you love on your downtime.

4. Stay away from negative coworkers.

5. Get more face time with the boss.

And one bonus tip is to designate a time that you will turn off your work for the day. It can be quitting time or later in the evening, but if you're available 24/7 for work this is going to make you miserable. Everyone needs time to rest and do something other than work.

Again, you alone control your happiness. If you find that doing these things still makes you feel like crap at work, perhaps your New Year's resolution needs to involve finding a new job.
