The Holiday season is here and so is all the amazing food. Between Halloween and New Year's Eve people tend to gain some weight because of all of the parties, eating, and drinking. 

It can be hard to control yourself, but if you go overboard you will likely gain a few extra pounds. There are all those amazing dips that are delicious but full of calories and fat. Oh, and holiday parties with open bars are dangerous too. And don't even get me started on all the cookies, pies, and cakes people bring into work. 

So how can you prevent gaining weight this Holiday season? According to experts, here are a few tips!

1. You should weigh yourself regularly so you can keep track of any gains.

2. Keep track of all the food and drinks you consume so you can burn off the right amount of calories for what you took in. This is fairly easy thanks to APPs like My Fitness Pal. Most brand name food items and even menu items from popular restaurants are already loaded into their database making it super easy. 

3. Limit your alcohol intake! Drinks are full of empty calories and sugar. Be more mindful about what adult beverages you choose and try to cut back.

4. Eat something healthy before going to a party or dinner. If you eat something before, you will be likely to eat less at the event.

5. Avoid the appetizers! It's so easy to just put away a bunch of cheese and crackers and other yummy finger foods when you are mingling with people before the dinner. If you skip these or just have a bite here or there, you will likely consume less calories.
