Another Popular Mall Store Announces Store Closures

Is 2017 the year that a lot of once popular stores go under?

I feel like a broken record, seriously. It's as if every two weeks or so another major retailer or retail chain store is announcing store closings because business isn't good anymore.

The mall was my spot to hang out in my teens. It was a Friday or Saturday night tradition. But the getting dropped off at the mall trend may die within the next few years because so many once popular chain stores are closing and going out of business. It's sad.

Today we have a new one to add to the ever growing list.

Some bad news has come for shoppers that frequent Gymboree. The children’s clothing retailer is closing some stores.

Gymboree said it plans to remain in business but will close 375 to 450 of its 1,281 stores in filing for a Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization.
The bankruptcy was widely expected after Gymboree refused to pay some of its bills in recent months, placing the retailer on a collision course with creditors.

Other stores that recently announced closings:

Sears

K-Mart

Ann Taylor Loft

Ann Taylor

True Religion

J.C. Penney (Select locations)

Macy's (Select Locations)

Dress Barn

Justice

Lane Bryant

Payless

Michael Kors

Bebe

Rue 21

The Limited

Crocs

GameStop and so many more. I don't have time to list all the stores that are closing some or all of their locations. You can see the full list here
