Anthony Rapp Calls Out Kevin Spacey for Sexual Assault

October 30, 2017

All of the women that have come out about being sexually harassed or assaulted by Harvey Weinstein has inspired others to share their stories too. You probably saw a lot of people sharing the hashtag #MeToo on social media. It was a way for victims to stand in solidarity and show other people that they aren't alone.

Many people have been sexually harassed and even assaulted. Did you know that every 98 seconds someone is sexually assaulted in America? The people most likely to be assaulted are 18-34 years old. Women are most likely to be victims, but we're learning more and more that men have been victimized too.

Last night I received the breaking news notification on my phone about Actor Anthony Rapp's story about Kevin Spacey trying to seduce him at a party when Rapp was just 14-years-old.

Rapp shared his exclusive story of horrow with Buzzfeed.

And Kevin Spacey didn't remain silent after the news hit the internet last night. He too issued a statement, but people aren't too pleased with how the actor/director decided to handle the situation.

Spacey was allegedly drunk when the incident occured over 30-years ago, but that still doesn't make it okay. Yes, he apologized for something he doesn't remember doing, but did so in a way to deflect the real issue by coming out as a gay man.

Gasy, straight, drunk, or sober... this behavior is never okay. I wonder if we will see more people come forward now that Rapp has shared his story with the World.

Although many victims believe that silence is the best option if we all can come together and use our voices we can stop behavior like this in the future. There's power in numbers, always remember that, and you're not alone.
