Applebee's Offering $1 Margaritas All Month Long

It's the chains latest attempt to attract millennials.

October 5, 2017

When is the last time you dinned at Applebee's? For me, it's been years because their food is just okay.

In August DineEquity, the parent company of Applebee's announced they were closing 135 locations nationwide. Most of the locations fall into two categories: older restaurants in less-busy areas and restaurants that have performed worse than expected.

It's no secret that millennials aren't spending money in chain restaurants or chain stores. This is why we've seen so many big retailers and restaurants announce mass closings. Millennials prefer small local chains or mom and pop establishments. Although I don't fit into the millennial category, I get it. Some chain restaurants are okay because they are consistent and you know what you're going to get every time. Applebee's, for me, isn't one of those restaurants.

So how is Applebee's getting more people into their locations? By offering some pretty incredible deals on food and even booze. They have two meals plus appetizer offer for $20 which is pretty good.

But it's not this offer that has everyone talking. It's their October month long Margarita deal!

What's the catch? The website says while supplies last and at participating locations. So does that mean they can sell out of the $1 margaritas?

"Our $1 margaritas in October give us a chance to show our guests a little love, giving them a totally unbeatable offer as a gesture of our sincere appreciation for their patronage," said Patrick Kirk, vice president of beverage innovation at Applebee's.

I just want to know how they taste. For $1 they have to be mixed with the cheapest booze on the market, right?
