More people than ever will be hitting the road and traveling this Thanksgiving holiday. If you're one of the estimated 51 million people getting in the car to do some driving, you'll definitely want to pay attention to some Charlotte travel tips.

Google Traffic is helping those traveling for the Holidays by giving us the best and worst times to travel in the top 25 cities in the United States. Charlotte is one of the top 25 so now we can better plan our trips.

Afternoon traffic is the worst in Charlotte so if you can leave earlier or later, that will be your best bet. Highways are likely to be clogged on Wednesday and Saturday at 4 p.m. To get to Thanksgiving dinner without traffic, leave early on Thursday morning and head home on Saturday at 6 p.m.

It's no surprise tomorrow will be the worst day for travel as it's the biggest day for travel all year long. If you can leave tonight, I would highly recommend it.

You can see in detail other cities you may be heading to for Turkey Day so you can better plan your trip there and back home to the Carolinas here.
