Is Black Friday Going Extinct?

October 4, 2017

Just in case you were wondering, there are 51more days until Black Friday and the holiday shopping madness. Well, technically, Black Friday now begins on Thanksgiving so there are 50 days left now.

Black Friday/Thursday sales are great opportunities for people to get some amazing deals on electronics, toys, and other holiday gifts. But if you want to get that amazing 4k 50inch Flat screen TV super cheap, you're going to have to wait in some pretty long lines because these items are in limited quantity. This huge shopping day sets the tone for how much consumers will spend that year.

But is Black Friday shopping in trouble? According to experts, there are less people planning to shop on Black Friday because they feel that the deals are now available year round because of online shopping.

All in all, the figures for holiday spending are still up this year which is good for retailers. Consumers are expected to spend $680 billion this holiday season, marking a 3.6 percent to 4 percent increase from last year’s $655.8 billion, according to estimates released Tuesday by the National Retail Federation.

Maybe this means that people won't have to leave their families on Thanksgiving to work at stores that seem to open earlier and earlier every single year.
