Building Ikea Furniture Just Got A Lot Easier

September 29, 2017

I have a love-hate relationship with Ikea

If you've been to Ikea, you know the struggle is real. Their stores are laid out in such a way that you have to walk through the entire showroom before going downstairs into the marketplace where you grab what you saw upstairs. Plus, that store has the same effect on me as Target does. I go in for some new pillow covers for my living room and come out with a cart full of stuff.

I moved in December and decided to sell the majority of my furniture and buy new stuff at Ikea because moving my huge sectional would be a task and a half. But the issue with Ikea furniture is that it all needs to be assembled. Ugh! Alas, I bought my little Ikea toolkit and put together what I bought, but it wasn't easy at all.

Now Ikea has bought Taskrabbit and that will make putting together their complicated, oddly named pieces a breeze. TaskRabbit is "the on-demand platform for hiring people to do everything from build furniture to stand in line for you at the Apple Store, has sold itself to Ikea."

So if you're planning to buy anything from Ikea, now you can hire someone else to deal with the crazy directions and frustrations.

Side note: Before marrying someone or even getting into a long-term relationship, you have to do the Ikea test.

Take a trip together to Ikea, pick out furniture, and see if you can assemble it without losing your minds and getting into a huge fight!
