If you've been on any of the many Dating APPs or online dating sites, you've probably noticed a theme with men's photos.

I would say that 8 out of 10 men have these three photos on their profiles.

-A photo showing them on top of a mountain after a hike.

-One that shows them without their shirt on.

-And a pic that includes them posing with their dog or dogs.

But maybe there's something to posting a photo showing off that you're a dog owner. Even in real life where you're encountering people face-to-face, a dog can be a great conversation starter. But why are men with dogs more successful in the dating World? According to lots of research, these men are perceived as being more approachable, empathetic, and happier too.

Dr. Helen Fisher is a chief advisor at Match.com and her findings also point out that men with dogs tend to get more dates. Having a dog shows other people, most importantly potential mates, that this guy can be a caregiver and has nurturing skills.

"He’s capable of nurturing, of giving without receiving a lot, of caring for another. He’s made a commitment to this animal,” Dr. Fisher said.

Now with that being said, this isn't a good reason for just any guy to go out and get them a dog. Dogs are enormous commitments and need to be walked and have space to run around. Before making the leap to dog ownership or any pet ownership for that matter, you should consider if your lifestyle can accommodate the needs of the pet.

And if you have that lifestyle, then have at it. There are so many amazing dogs in shelters that are looking for the person that will give them their forever home.
