What a perfect day!

August 8, 2019

In case you didn't know, I love cats! If I could run off and live on an island full of cats and just snuggle them all day long, I would. There's something magical about felines. And today is the purrfect day to celebrate all things cat because it's International Cat Day. The unofficial holiday was created to raise awareness for our feline friends and learn about ways to help and protect them.

Videos of cats tend to go viral and get the most views on sites like Youtube. Also, there is a lot of research that cat videos can help make us happier and reduce stress.

Doesn't that video instantly make you feel better?

So take a few minutes to destress and say "awe" to all of these fun feline facts and make sure you share plenty of videos and pictures of your favorite felines today!

1. If you adore felines, you’re in good company: Many of history’s most famous figures—including Florence Nightingale, Pope Paul II, Mark Twain, and the Brontë sisters—all owned, and loved, cats.

2. Cats spend around 30 to 50 percent of their day grooming themselves.

3. Cats can move the front and rear halves of their bodies in opposite directions, thanks to having 517 muscles.

4. A cat can jump about six times its length — more than 8 feet in a single bound. Tails help with balance.

5. Cats can vocalize 100 sounds. Pretty impressive because dogs can do about 10 sounds!
