Could Kevin James Join 'House of Cards'

November 7, 2017

House of Cards is one of my favorite original Netflix shows. It's been nine days since the initial allegations came out about show star Kevin Spacey that he acted inappropriately with Anthony Rapp when he was just 14-years-old. But once the lid came off of that story, more and more people came forward including people that worked on the set of HoC.

Rapp inspired others to share their story, and now the allegations against Spacey are mounting. Netflix announced four days ago that they were firing Spacey. “Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey."

Season six was already into filming when the initial reports came out. So now producers and writers need to figure out how to handle Frank Underwood's character and his sudden disappearance. Most people believe that Spacey's role will be killed off and the show will continue with Robin Wright and all of the other original characters.

TV fans though have their suggestion on how to handle Spacey's sudden departure. Fans have created an online petition to have actor Kevin James from King of Queens replace Spacey in the series. The petition already has over 25,000 signatures.

The creator of the petition writes: “However with hardship comes the opportunity for a great show to become one of the greatest television shows of all time,” he said. “I think Kevin James can elevate ‘House of Cards’ to a globally adored franchise like ‘Game of Thrones’ and make the entire world focus on one of the most important Netflix Original series there is.”

Do you think Frank Underwood should just live on with a new actor playing the role or be killed off the series?
