Do Not Answer Calls From These Area Codes

March 10, 2017

There seem to be new scams popping up every day through social media or even via our phones. Technology is a great thing, but it also gives some really bad people a lot of power and access to our personal information.

I've had my bank card duplicated three times in the last two years. What a pain in the butt! And when I received the chip card, the bank assured me that duplication was a lot more difficult and the card would be more secure. Ha! Sure!

I am one of those people that if I do not recognize a phone number on my phone I will not answer. If it's important enough the person will surely leave me a voice mail. But there are some area codes that you should by no means ever answer a call from unless you legit know someone who lives there. The people on the other line from these certain area codes have found a way to get $5 from you per minute you are on the phone with them.

If they keep you on for even five minutes, they just scored $25!

So here are the area codes you need to ignore calls from: International Area Codes With a +1 Country Code

242 — Bahamas

246 — Barbados

268 — Antigua

284 — British Virgin Islands

345 — Cayman Islands

441 — Bermuda

473 — Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique

649 — Turks and Caicos

664 — Montserrat

721 — Sint Maarten

758 — St. Lucia

767 — Dominica

784 — St. Vincent and Grenadines

809, 829 and 849 — Dominican Republic

868 — Trinidad and Tobago

869 — St. Kitts and Nevis

876 — Jamaica

Again, if someone really needs to get ahold of you and you send them to voicemail they will leave a message. But more likely than not, a scammer won't leave a message.
