Easy Ways To Cut & Run From A Bad Date

February 10, 2017

Have you ever gone on a first date that was just so terrible you wish you could teleport yourself to a remote island? With online dating and APPs like Tinder, sometimes you just can't be 100% sure what you will get when you finally meet the person face to face.

I went on a date once, and the guy creeped me out a bit. I thought maybe I was overreacting so I stuck it out through another drink. This is the point that things were starting to get weird. He was trying to get me to go back to his place to watch TV. Red flags were all over so I declined and used a work emergency as an excuse. But here's the kicker, before I left he asked if he could buy some drugs from me...

I don't sell drugs, in case you didn't know. So I have no idea where that came from.

Do you have a plan with friends when on a date that they call or text to check in with you? I found an article on EliteDaily.com that's all about the lies that can easily get you out of a bad date. But is it right to lie? Ok, this coming from someone who recently lied about a work thing to get away from the guy looking to score drugs...

One of the suggestions from that article I mentioned above says you should fake an allergic reaction... wow that's a lot of work to get out of a date!

Or should you be 100% honest that you aren't feeling it or that you fear he may chop you up and bury your body in his backyard? I think this is why I have a few requirements before agreeing to meet someone face-to-face.

1. An old school phone call.

2. Getting an essential background on who he is and where he works.

3. And I always share a screenshot of his profile or any information I may have with a few friends in case I was to vanish.

This is why perhaps the first meeting shouldn't be such a long commitment like dinner. I think the idea of a pre-date for coffee is great. At that point, you can feel this person out to see if you would like to spend more time with them. Or if you meet for coffee and things are going well you can move on to dinner and drinks...
