Foods to Get Before Florence Hits

September 13, 2018

Did you procrastinate a bit and not get your Hurricane Emergency kit prepped? No judgment from me because I still need to fill my gas tank. It's literally flashing because I am so close to empty.

Although the Charlotte area won't likely see much heavy wind, we will see a lot of rain. Depending on the track of Florence we could see anywhere from 5 to 12 inches of rain. And again, that all could change as the storm gets closer to the coast. So here are the food items to have on hand should we lose power and a few rules of thumb.

1. Get the food items you like and will want to eat. If you hate tuna, don't buy it.

2. Water. If there’s any chance you might lose water, fill every available container now.

3. Peanut butter

4. Bread, crackers, bagels, etc.

5. Protein bars, granola bars, prepackaged snacks.

6. Canned soups, stews, and pasta that can be eaten cold.

Hopefully, the brunt of the heavy rain misses us and we have no power outages, but it's always good to be prepared just in case!
