How Many Hours A Week Does The Average Mom Work?

August 1, 2017

Being a mother is hard work. You're a personal chef, a driver, nurse, cleaning lady, teacher, etc. I think it's safe to say that a mother's job is truly never done and I think this new study further proves it.

The research was conducted by Welch's, you know the people that make jelly, jam, and juice. Just under 3/4ths of mothers have some sort of job out in the work force. And the majority of them are actually employed full time. But what if we were to combine the hours the mother's worked at their jobs and doing their duties as a mother? I think you might be surprised.

Working Mother did the math and came up with 98 hours per week. That's a lot for one person. That means the average mom is working 14 hour days!!!

And every year around Mother's Day, there's a figure that comes out of what mom's salary would be if she were paid for all the different jobs she did and the hours it takes to complete them. This year's figure:

"Her base salary would break down to $37,022!!! In the grand scheme of things, that is not a lot of money. But if we factor in the overtime, $75,941, the yearly take home goes up to $112,962 per year."
