Are you over this Winter yet? With all the sickness and flu that's been going around, I am!

Flu season is here and people are coughing and sneezing! I don't know about you, but I don't want to get sick and I don't have time to catch anything either.

There are some easy ways you can do your part to help stop the spread of the yuck. Wash your hands, cover your cough, and wipe down surfaces to help kill germs are just a few ideas. But you can also prevent sickness from spreading by washing your winter clothing more often.

How many times during the Winter season do you think you're supposed to wash your winter jackets? I bet you're like me and think you wash it after the season when you are packing it away right? That would be the wrong answer. "This clothing can harbor bacteria, viruses that can be spread and can be a mode for transmission of infection," James Swiencicki, an infectious disease specialist, told WIVB.com.

So how much should you wash your coat, gloves, hats, and scarves?

-Wash your coat twice a season!

-Wash your gloves once a month.

-Wash your scarves at least once a month.

-Wash your leggings after two wears.

-Wash your hats once a month.

There's a caveat to this rule. If you're sick, you need to wash all of these items because they could be holding on to the nasty bacteria and making you get sick over and over again.

So if you need me this afternoon, I'll be washing all of my Winter wear because I refuse to get this crud again!
