We certainly wouldn't reuse a bowl over and over again when we serve ourselves or our families food. Well the same idea applies to our pet's bowls too!

How often are you washing their bowls and plates? I bet it's not nearly enough. According to experts, we should be washing our pet's bowls daily. That mean every single day not every other day or even once a week.

Did you know pet bowls were found the be the 4th germiest place in our homes? If you think about it, it makes a whole lot of sense. There are all kinds of nasty germs and bacteria hanging out in their bowl. Things like salmonella, E. coli, staph, maybe even parasites like giardia (especially if you have puppies), and, of course, everyday yeast and mold. Gag!

The best types of bowl are made from stainless steel and cermic bowls are a good option too. The bowl — and rubber mat, if you're using one — has to be washed in hot, soapy water (as hot as you can stand it) every single day.

Experts warn against using plastic bowls because microscratches are the perfect place for germs and bacteria to grow.

If you need me after work, I'll be out picking up some stainless steel bowls for my cats!
