Idol Coming Back Without Ryan Seacrest?

May 4, 2017

I still don't understand why multiple television networks are fighting over who gets to bring back American Idol. The show originally aired on Fox, but NBC wanted in on the action. Now ABC is also vying for the reality singing competition.

Sure, Idol's ratings were really, really good for quite some time. But when people like Paula Abdul and Simon Cowell left, the interest in the show started to drop. Plus, the caliber of talent just didn't seem to be there over the last few years. I used to watch just to see what craziness Paula would get into because she would often seem looped out of her mind.

Again, I don't get why so many people are fighting over Idol, but it is what it is.

I think maybe the show could have some success if they brought back the original judges. But I am not sure that would happen or if they even would want to come back. There is one person who I am hearing won't be coming back should the show be resuscitated and it's host, Ryan Seacrest. ICYMI, Ryan was just named co-host of Live with Kelly Ripa earlier this week.

Twitter exploded after the announcement because let's be honest, Ryan Seacrest is everywhere. Now as someone in radio, another industry that Ryan works in, I can tell you that he's taken a lot of jobs from other people. But that's radio and how it works in 2017.

So with that being said, I hope ABC or whoever reboots Idol finds a new host. Ryan Seacrest has enough jobs, money, and fame. It's time to let someone else's star rise!
