Leggings Cause Issues On United Flight

March 27, 2017

United Airlines is currently trending on social media because of an incident that happened at a gate in the Denver Airport yesterday. Two young girls were not permitted to board their flight from Denver yesterday because they were wearing leggings.

A fellow passenger witnessed the event and took her concerns to Twitter.

It was this tweet that started a poop storm that got everyone and their mother's brother's sister's uncle in an uproar. Even celebrities began tweeting United Airlines because of this ridiculous policy. The leggings as pants debate has been around for a long time. I feel like everyone has their opinion on whether leggings can in fact be worn as pants. Apparently, United is showing their stance on the topic.

United clapped back to the passengers tweet with their official statement:

So does this mean that United doesn't allow passengers to wear leggings? NO, that's not the case. The two young girls were traveling on employee tickets and those passengers must adhere to a more strict dress code.

I guess I can see where the airline is coming from, but these were children. It seems a bit extreme to not allow 10-year-olds to board a flight on employee benefits because of their pants. They are 10 and I am sure there wasn't anything inappropriate about their outfits.

As you can imagine, there are plenty of people that are still miffed by this insane policy. I have a feeling there will be a ton of United Passengers rocking leggings on their flights for the next few weeks just to prove a point.
