People Are Using This Popular Beverage As Tanning Oil

June 19, 2017

I remember back in the day when people who wanted to get a super dark tan used baby oil. I bet a lot of those people are kicking themselves now because of all the sun damage they have for spending so much time in the sun without some sunscreen.

Honestly, I am very apprehensive about spending too much time in the sun. I am very fair and tend to burn the first few times I am out for awhile. I also get lots of dark spots on my face and freckles if I get some sun on my face. No thank you. I am an SPF-50 on my face kind of girl anymore. I don't want to look like a worn out leather handbag when I am in my fifties!

There's a new tanning trend that's gone viral and it may be just as ridiculous as the baby oil we used to use back in the day. What popular beverage are people using in place of regular tanning oil?

But wouldn't you be really sticky? Wouldn't bugs and bees be annoying you at the beach, lake, or pool? And if you're laying on the beach wouldn't the sand stick to you?

This just all around sounds like a terrible idea. Why are people putting Coca-Cola all over their bodies? Apparently, the caramel coloring in the soda gives you a nice bronzed look. Plus, there are so many chemicals in coke that you'd think that it may cause some sort of rash.

Here are a few sun safety tips to keep in mind:

1. Shade is your friend! If you want to reduce your risk of sun damage or skin cancer, stay in the shade.

2. Wear a hat! Hats are a great way to keep the sun off your face. But always use sunscreen just to play it safe.

3. Sunscreen needs to be reapplied every 2 hours! You will sweat it off or swim it off. Set the alarm on your phone to remind you to reapply.
