PETA Calls For Boycott of 'A Dog's Purpose' After Video Goes Viral

January 19, 2017

The new movie, A Dog's Purpose is getting a lot of attention from the media. But it's not the kind of attention movie studios or producers want.

I remember seeing the trailer a few weeks back and it definitely sparked my interest. I am a sucker for animals and pets.

But yesterday a video leaked online and went viral of some of the behind the scenes filming. There's a German Shepard that appears to be very scared and people feel like the dog was forced to film. But the real issue is when the video shows the dog in rapids go under and begin to drown. The video is below, but it's hard watch when the dog goes under.

And you can hear some laughing in the background when the dog is being apprehensive about getting into the water. Off-camera, you can hear a crew member laugh at the dog’s resistance before saying, “You just got to throw him in.” Ugh, seriously!

Well, PETA is ticked off as they should be. They are calling for people to boycott the movie.

“PETA is calling on dog lovers to boycott the film in order to send the message that dogs and other animals should be treated humanely, not as movie props,” the group said in the statement. The movie hits theaters next Friday, but with all of this bad publicity and that terrible video footage, I think it won't do so well at the box office.
