A huge Category four Hurricane is expected to hit the coast of the Carolinas Thursday into Friday! Currently Hurricane Florence is a category two storm, but is anticipated to reach a category 4 overnight.

This was the latest advisory with a new one coming out later this morning.

Have you started to stock up on water, batteries, and non-perishable foods just in case? What should you have on hand for your storm kit?

I went to the midtown Target last night and the water supply was starting to look low. So if you have yet to go get your supplies, you should do so sooner rather than later.

Non-perishable Foods: Canned soup, beans, stews, peanut butter, jelly, bread, and anything that can be eaten without warming it up.

Snacks: Most snack items like trail mix, nuts, dried fruits, and crackers are good to have on hand.

Protein: Dry meats like beef jerky is a great way to have meat without worrrying about keeping it refrigerated or cooking it.

Drinks: The rule of thumb is to have a gallon of water per person per day. Other drinks that do not need to be refigerated are also good to keep on hand!

Supplies:

-Manual can opener for all of the canned food you bought to eat if the power goes out.

-A full tank of gas! If you haven't filled up your car, you should do it ASAP. With major storms there is often a gas shortage and the prices tend to rise as well.

-Charge your cell phones and any extra battery packs.

-Batteries for flash lights.

-Candles to provide light.

-Fill your tubs with water if you cannot flush your toilets.

-Take out some cash. If the power goes out, you won't be able to access the ATM or use a card at the stores.

Remember to get these things as soon as you can because people will be stocking up and stores will be selling out.
