The Reason so Many Disney Movies Have Dead or Missing Mothers

Haven't you ever wondered why this is a common theme?

August 14, 2017

It's no secret that there are hidden images and messages in many Disney movies and cartoon. In general, many cartoons have hidden images that may be a bit naughty that most of us end up missing because they are shown so quickly.

And more and more movies that are made for young children also contain some adult humor to keep the parents that are with their kids entertained.

But Disney has a dark side to many of their movies. I knew about the dead mom theme because popular movies like Aladdin, Pocahontas, Cinderella, and Bambi all had a storyline about a missing or dead mother. And now finally we know why Walt Disney did this in so many movies. Side note, I'm 38-years-old and have never been able to get through Bambi because of the mom died in the beginning.

Looper has broken down all the dark themes of Disney, and they go far beyond just the idea of a missing or dead mother. What Disney movie pays homage to the horror movie The Shining? And what about the huge age difference between Disney Princesses and the men they end up with? Yeah, that's a bit creepy too!

You can watch some of these dark themes in the video below.

You need to read Looper's entire story on all the craziness within Disney films many of us probably missed. I'll never watch The Santa Clause the same way now.
