Starbucks Has a New Pink Drink For Summer

But you'll have to travel far to get it.

June 28, 2017

I love Starbucks don't get me wrong. I have been a proud gold card carrying member for the past three or so years. But I do have a lot of beef with the coffee giant as well.

Every time they release a new drink, it always makes the news, and everyone runs out to try it. Remember that damn Unicorn Frappuccino that came out this Spring for just one week? A bunch of us at the station tried it, and the consensus wasn't a positive one. Not only was the taste weird, but it was full of sugar and super high in calories.

As someone who needs to be mindful about their sugar intake, I always look up the stats on a drink before I order it. More often than not, I end up not trying the drink because many of their tea mixes have at least 24 grams of sugar for a grande. Let's be honest; I am not a grande kind of girl. I am more of a Venti or if I can get a trenta. If you want a mixed espresso drink like the famous Caramel Macchiato, a grande will set you back 250 calories and 33 grams of sugar. Eek.

I found a story this morning about a new Pink Drink that Starbucks has rolled out and I immediately became excited. It's the Shaken Watermelon Passion Tea. Watermelon water or juice is an excellent source of hydration during the dog days of Summer. There's a whole list of health benefits to watermelon

But if you want to try this new Starbucks watermelon pink drink, you'll have to travel to Japan this Summer. I don't know the nutritional stats on it, but I know I can make my own version at home.

You can find watermelon water at Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, and other grocery stores. Mix it with your favorite unsweet tea and bam you have your own refreshing creation.

Or you can save some money and make your own.

Seriously, how easy does that look? Yes, please!
