The Struggle of Being Attractive is Real

At least according to a new study!

November 2, 2017

Every few months we hear news stories about people complaining that their attractiveness makes working, dating, or living much harder for them than people that have average looks.

I think most of us laugh at stories like these because they just seem so ridiculous. The grass is always greener on the other side, right? If you're a not so attractive person, you probably think that being beautiful means things come a lot easier for you.

But a new study is backing up this claim that being attractive can be bad for you.

The data published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that the idea that attractive people are more likely to get hired for jobs than those that are less attractive wasn't necessarily accurate. If the situation were something that the interviewer felt wasn't a glamorous one, they would be less likely to hire the super attractive person because they think that they don't want the job.

To sum this up, if you're attractive, you need to look for a higher ranking or glamorous job. This is where you will perhaps have a better chance of being hired.

I guess there is a downside to being attractive.
