Walmart's Back to School Sign Placement Goes Viral

Doh! How did this even happen?

August 10, 2017

Back to school is a huge season for retail stores. It's predicted that consumers will spend an estimated $83.6 billion getting the kids ready to go back to the classroom this year.

Retail giant, Walmart, is in the news this back to school season, but not for their incredible sales. This photo was snapped by one woman shopping and has since gone viral.

In the photo, you can see the sign about "owning the school year like a hero" placed above a display of guns!

Walmart spokesperson Charles Crowson told CNNMoney that the company is "not happy" and is "working diligently" to find out where the photo was taken and ensure the sign has been removed. But how could they not know where the photo was snapped? There had been some suspicion online that this photo was, in fact, a fake. But Snopes has confirmed that the photo is legit and this display was actually inside one Walmart.

We now know the photo was taken at an Evansville, Indiana location.
