How Many Calories Can You Burn Watching Scary Movies?

It's time for a scary movie marathon!

Who wants to get together to have a scary movie marathon? After reading the findings of this new study, I definitely do.

If you're looking for something scary to watch Netflix just released Stephen King's new movie, In The Tall Grass. I have seen a lot of people talking about it on social media and the reviews say that it's pretty terrifying.

I'm not sure how many calories you will burn watching that one, but scary movies can help you burn more calories. Research done at Westminster University found that watching scary movies can actually be good for your health. How? You'd think that with the anxiety and elevated heart rate that they'd be bad for you, but that's not the case.

Watching 90 minutes of a movie that gets your adrenaline pumping can burn about 113 calories on average, and that's about the same as taking a 30-minute walk. The scarier the movie, the more calories burned.

Here are the Top 3 Calorie Burning Horror Movies:

1. The Shining at 184 calories.

2. Jaws, the original, at 161 calories.

3. The Exorcist at 158 calories.

If you need me this weekend, I will be having a horror movie binge session aka burning all the calories on the couch! Get some more movies that topped the calories burning list here
