You May be a Psychopath If You Know These Song Lyrics

September 27, 2017

Every time I share the latest study about things that may indicate a person is a psychopath, I'm always happy to report that the criteria didn't fit me. Some of the former studies found that people who like black coffee, worked in management, and like vodka and tonic were most likely to be psycho. Not me, not me, and again not me.

That all changes today with a new study about psychopaths and the song lyrics they know.

This study looked at people's tastes in music and compared them with their scores on a personality test to see if there was any connection between music and psychopathic tendencies. And sure enough, the study found the link.

Before I get to the particular music that may mean you're a psychopath, I need to share this fun fact. "Approximately one percent of the general population fits the description of a psychopath and about one in five prisoners are identified as having the psychological disorder." These are people you pass in the grocery store, sit next to at work, or married. Psychopaths aren't always serial killers and ax-wielding madmen.

So what songs fit the psychopath criteria?

NOOOOOOOOO! I know every single lyric and rap portion of Blackstreet's "No Diggity". Play on playette! This song along with Eminem's "Lose Yourself" had the highest psychopathic scores. I don't like Eminem, per say, but I do know all of the lyrics.

What songs had the lowest scores? Sia's "Titanium" and The Knack "My Sharona".
