Your Bathroom Scale Is Lying About Your Weight

Time to toss it in the trash!

One of the best things I have ever done for myself was throwing away my scale. I used to allow the number I saw on the scale every morning to determine my mood and mindset. It became very unhealthy and I found myself weighing myself multiple times a day.

Now that I have tossed the scale, I let the doctor keep track of my weight when I go in for office visits. Our weight fluctuates from day to day and that is especially the case for women. I don't want some number to define me or my happiness and either should you.

According to a new study, our scales are not all that accurate anyway. The research found that room temperature, wear and tear, and dirt entering in the scale can all throw your number off by a lot. Even modern digital scales or manual scales are pretty basic and most are mass produced so their accuracy is already off.

Here are a few ways to get more accurate readings from your scale. Scales are designed to stand flat. If you put them on a carpet, you’ll distort the base of the scale and mess up your measurements. Also, weigh yourself at the same time every day.

But if you truly want an accurate number, do to a doctor according to experts.
