Trying To ‘Catch Up’ On Sleep On The Weekends Doesn’t Work, According To Researchers

So you put your nose down and grind all week...you’re not worried about sleep because you think you can just catch a few extra hours rest on the weekends, right?

Nope, according to a new study. Researchers at Colorado University found that a few extra hours of sleep during the weekend isn’t enough to offset the “sleep debt” you accumulated during the week.

The downside of trying to catch up on sleep is that it messes with the our biological clock. Researchers also discovered that sleep deprivation can lead to overeating and increased weight gain.

The American Academy of Sleep Medicine recommends that adults get seven or more hours of sleep per night.
